Payment plans
A popular way for utility customers to save money is through payment plans. For electricity, Pepco offers an average payment plan program for assistance with keeping your bill affordable. The plan allows you to pay a fixed amount each month for the span of 12 months, meaning you’ll pay less than the actual monthly cost during high usage months and more during low usage months. Even if you choose this approach, it’s still in your interest to reduce your energy use to minimize costs.
Support for low-income customers
Low-income customers can apply for a discount on their electricity bill through the Residential Aid Discount Program offered by Pepco and for federal assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), both of which are managed by the D.C. Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE). DOEE also offers other energy efficiency programs, including in-home installation of energy efficiency measures.
